This month we had a bill from British Gas land on our door mat requesting funds. This was a huge shock. If you have watched my previous vlogs you would know that I had tried for nearly 12 months to find out who supplied our electric, and I was unable to gather any clarification. I have now made a complaint to British Gas as the meter they want to charge me for is not live and therefore unusable. It is hugely frustrating but I will keep you updated as I battle on.
We have had a few maintenance issues this month. We had difficulty accessing a Wigan apartment so we have now given them a date when we need access so we can address the issues. After all we need to ensure we look after our investment. I have also had my paint brush and drill at the ready at Newbury Road and addressed a few issues the new tenants raised. It was a joy to spend time with the new tenants and get to know them as people. I had a lovely afternoon with the children when we visited a tenant to help move their unwanted chest of draws. The family have been in the flat for a number of years and both families have watched the children grow, so it was lovely to spend time in their home.
The single let flat in Croydon has a tenancy ending in November so we are doing our due diligence to decide on a potential rent increase. I have been looking at changing letting agent to a company who are more local and a smaller company and to date they have been far more helpful than the larger company I currently use.
